Welcome to Stix and Brix! This guide will walk you through signing in for the first time, navigating the interface, personalizing your settings, and installing the app on your device so you can stay connected wherever you are.
Signing In
Stix and Brix supports multiple sign-in methods. Your organization's administrator configures which options are available on the login page.
- Open your browser and navigate to stixandbrix.nxtconstruction.ai
- Choose your sign-in method (see below)
- Enter your credentials and complete any multi-factor authentication prompts if required
- You'll be redirected to the Stix and Brix home screen
Sign-In Methods
| Method | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Microsoft SSO | Click Sign in with Microsoft. Uses your existing company credentials (the same email and password you use for Outlook, Teams, etc.). This is the most common method. Your organization may have a named button like "Sign in with [Company] Microsoft." |
| Click Sign in with Google. Uses your Google account. Important: First-time Google sign-ins require administrator approval — you'll see a message saying your account is pending approval until an admin activates it. | |
| Email and Password | Enter your email address and password directly. This option is available when your organization has set up direct Cognito accounts (no SSO). |
Tip: If you see a "No Access" page after signing in, your email domain may not be mapped to your organization yet, or (for Google users) your account may be pending administrator approval. Contact your administrator or email support@nxtconstruction.ai for assistance.
Using Stix and Brix in Microsoft Teams
Stix and Brix can also be accessed from within Microsoft Teams. When signing in from Teams, authentication uses a popup window instead of a browser redirect. Your Teams login credentials are used automatically.
Navigating the Interface
Once signed in, you'll land on the Home screen — your main dashboard. The Home screen displays feature tiles that serve as your primary navigation.
Home Screen Navigation
The Home screen shows tiles for all available features. Click any tile to open that section:
| Tile | What It Does |
|---|---|
| What's Happening | Company news and announcements — displayed as a featured carousel widget at the top of the Home screen with navigation arrows and a Calendar view |
| Chat Interface | AI-powered assistant that answers questions using your company's documents |
| Good News | Employee recognition — share and view positive updates in your group |
| Helpful Links | Quick access to company tools and resources organized by category |
| Feature Feedback | Submit feature ideas and vote on suggestions for NXT products |
| Support Tickets | Submit technical support requests and track issues |
Note: If you have administrator access, you'll also see additional tiles grouped under Settings and Analytics: Admin Chat, Administration (user and group management), App Store, Analytics, Branding, Prompt Management, Document Library, and Boost Categories. A separate ML Work section may show Observation Testing and ML Training depending on your role.
Chat Page Navigation
When you open the Chat Interface or Admin Chat, the top navigation bar provides quick access to:
- Home icon — Return to the Home screen
- Settings icon (gear) — Open Customize Responses to adjust AI behavior
- Analytics icon (bar chart) — View conversation and document analytics (administrators only)
The Home Screen
The Home screen is your starting point. It gives you a quick overview of what's new across the platform, including:
- Recent What's Happening announcements
- The Chat Interface tile for AI-powered questions
- Quick links to frequently used features
Using the AI Chat
One of the first things you'll notice is the AI Chat interface. This is your AI-powered assistant that can answer questions using your company's documents as a knowledge base.
Asking a Question
- Navigate to the Chat Interface from the Home screen
- Type your question in the chat input field (e.g., "What is our PTO policy?" or "Where do I find the expense report form?")
- Press Enter or click the send button
- The AI will search your company's documents and provide a relevant answer
The AI uses semantic search, which means it understands the meaning behind your question — you don't need to use exact keywords. Ask questions naturally, the same way you would ask a colleague.
Personalizing Your Settings
You can customize how the AI chat behaves. Open the Chat Interface from the Home screen, then click the gear icon in the top navigation bar to open Customize Responses.
AI Chat Preferences
Adjust these settings to tailor the AI assistant to your working style:
| Setting | Options | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Model Preference | Default (Sonnet 4.6), Sonnet 4.6, Opus 4.6 | Choose which AI model powers your chat. Default is recommended for most users |
| Tone | Default, Professional, Friendly, Concise | Controls how the AI communicates — professional for formal responses, concise for quick answers |
| Response Length | Default, Short, Detailed | How much detail the AI includes in its responses |
| AI Role | Default, Subject Matter Expert, Teacher, Quick Assistant | Sets the AI's persona — "Teacher" explains concepts step by step, "Quick Assistant" gives direct answers |
| AI Nickname | Free text | Give the AI a custom name that appears in the chat |
| Your Nickname | Free text | Set how you want the AI to address you |
| Ask Clarifying Questions | On / Off | When enabled, the AI will ask follow-up questions if your query is ambiguous |
| Timezone | Timezone selector | Set your timezone for accurate date and time references |
Changing Your Preferences
- Open the Chat Interface from the Home screen
- Click the gear icon in the top navigation bar to open Customize Responses
- Adjust any of the options listed above
- Click Apply to save your changes
Tip: If you're unsure which settings to use, leave everything on Default. You can always adjust later as you get more comfortable with the AI assistant.

Troubleshooting First Login
I see a "No Access" page after signing in
Problem: You signed in successfully but cannot access the portal.
Solutions:
- Your email domain may not be mapped to your organization's tenant — contact your administrator
- Verify you are signing in with your company email, not a personal Microsoft or Google account
- If you signed in with Google, your account may be pending administrator approval — ask your admin to approve your account in User Management
- Try clearing your browser cache and signing in again
Microsoft SSO login fails
Problem: Error during the Microsoft sign-in process.
Solutions:
- Ensure you are using a supported browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, or Edge)
- Check that pop-ups are not blocked for the sign-in page
- Try signing in from an incognito/private window to rule out extension conflicts
- Contact your IT department if the issue persists — they may need to authorize the application in your organization's Azure AD
Page loads but shows a blank screen
Problem: The app loads but nothing appears.
Solutions:
- Hard-refresh the page (Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac)
- Clear your browser cache and cookies for stixandbrix.nxtconstruction.ai
- Try a different browser
- If using the installed PWA, uninstall and reinstall it
