This article walks you through your first end-to-end SuperClear AI inspection: signing in, creating or connecting an inspection, uploading photos, reviewing the AI detections, and generating a punch list. By the end you'll have a complete inspection in the system and a PDF you can share.
Before You Start
- Make sure you have an nSpec account with SuperClear AI access — see System Requirements and Setup
- You'll need a device with a camera (or photos already saved on your device)
- An internet connection — sign-in, photo upload, and AI processing all need to be online
Step 1: Open SuperClear AI and Sign In
- Open https://superclearai.nspec.app in your browser
- Type your email and click VERIFY EMAIL
- If prompted, pick your tenant from the list and click SELECT
- Sign in with Microsoft SSO (pop-up) or with your nSpec password
- If this is your first time, accept the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service
Step 2: Create or Connect an Inspection
After signing in, you'll see the SuperClear AI dashboard with a Welcome banner and the message "Select to begin." From here you have one of two workflows depending on your tenant configuration:
Option A: Connect to an existing nSpec inspection
Use this if your team already records inspections in nSpec and you want to add AI photo analysis to one.
- Click Connect to Inspection
- The Project Selector opens — search for the nSpec project by name or address
- Pick the project from the search results
- Check the boxes next to the inspections you want to connect (you can connect multiple at once, or click Select All)
- Click Connect
- The connected inspections appear on your dashboard, grouped by project
Option B: Create a new stand-alone inspection
Use this if you want a stand-alone inspection that isn't tied to an existing nSpec record (typical for Procore tenants or SuperClearOnly mode).
- Click Create an Inspection
- The Create New Inspection modal opens
- In the Project field, search for an existing project — or click + Create New Project to make a new one
- If creating a new project, fill in Project Name, Building Options (comma-separated, e.g., "Building A, Building B, Building C"), and Floor Options (e.g., "1, 2, 3, Basement")
- Type an Inspection Name
- Pick the Inspection Date
- Click Create Inspection
Step 3: Open the Inspection
- On the dashboard, find the inspection you just connected or created
- Click the Open link (arrow icon) on its card
- You're taken to the Detailed Inspection View where you can upload photos
Step 4: Upload Photos
The Detailed Inspection View has a section called "Upload & Process Images with SuperClear AI" with two big buttons.
- Click Take Photo to open your device camera (mobile only) and take a new photo, OR
- Click Select Images to pick existing photos from your device
- Selected photos appear as thumbnails in a grid below the buttons
- To remove a photo before uploading, click the red X in its top-right corner
- When you're ready, click Upload & Process with SuperclearAI
- Wait for the upload to complete — the progress is shown on screen
What happens during upload: SuperClear AI uploads each photo to secure cloud storage and immediately starts an AI batch to detect defects. You don't have to do anything else — the AI runs automatically in the background.
Step 5: Review AI Detections
- From the Detailed Inspection View, click Open SuperClear AI Inspection
- You're taken to the SuperClear AI Screen where you can see all uploaded photos
- Each photo shows a status indicator while the AI is processing — wait for the spinner to turn into a green check
- Once processing is done, photos with detections show colored bounding boxes and labels marking the defects
Filtering and grouping
- Use the Filters panel at the top of the screen
- Toggle Only Show Defects to hide photos with no detected issues
- Toggle Group by Conditions to organize photos by defect type
- Use the Filter by dropdown to focus on specific conditions
- Sort by Upload Order, Annotations, or Tags
Step 6: Edit Photos (Optional)
If the AI missed something or marked something incorrectly, you can edit any photo manually:
- Hover over a photo and click Edit in the action overlay
- The Image Editor opens with drawing tools (rectangles, arrows, lines, text, freehand)
- Draw on the photo to add your own annotations, or click existing markups to delete or modify them
- Click Save when done
Step 7: Tag Your Photos (Optional)
- Click on a photo to enter edit mode
- Click the Photo Conditions dropdown
- Search for and select the condition tags that apply
- Save the photo
Tags help you organize photos by defect type and are essential if you want to group photos in the punch list.
Step 8: Generate a Punch List
- (Optional) Use checkboxes to select specific photos to include — leave nothing selected to include everything
- Click Report in the toolbar
- The Generate Punch List dialog appears — confirm your selection
- Click Generate
- Wait for the PDF to render — the button shows "Generating..." while it's working
- When done, the PDF downloads to your browser's downloads folder
You're Done!
You've completed your first SuperClear AI inspection. You signed in, created or connected an inspection, uploaded photos, ran AI detection, reviewed and edited the results, and generated a punch list PDF you can share with your team or client.
