Administration is the central dashboard for managing your organization's users, groups, extensions, dashboard layout, and permissions in Stix and Brix. Tenant admins can provision users, manage group memberships, customize the Home dashboard, and control which apps each group can see. Super admins have additional controls for identity provider and email domain mappings.
Administrator access required. This feature is available to users with tenant admin or super admin permissions. Tenant admins manage their own organization; super admins can switch between all tenants.
Accessing Administration
- From the Home screen, find the Settings and Analytics section
- Click the Administration tile
- Tenant admins land directly on their tenant's dashboard
- Super admins see a tenant card selector first — click a tenant card to manage it
The page has five tabs: Users, Groups, Extensions, Dashboard Layout, and Permissions.
Users Tab
The Users tab shows all users in your tenant, split into two sections.
Google Users Pending Approval
When new users sign in with Google for the first time, they appear here awaiting approval. For each pending user, you can:
- Approve — grants the user access to the tenant
- Provision — creates a full user account with group assignments
- Dismiss — removes the pending request
- View — opens the user's profile card
- Edit — modify user details
- Delete — permanently removes the user
Approved Users
The approved users table shows all active and disabled users with these columns:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| User's email address | |
| Display Name | Name shown in the app |
| Groups | List of groups the user belongs to |
| Status | Active or Disabled |
| Last Active | When the user last signed in |
| Actions | View, Edit (opens Edit Groups modal), Delete |
Editing a User's Groups
- Click Edit on any approved user
- The Edit Groups modal opens showing all available groups as checkboxes
- Check or uncheck groups to add or remove the user
- Click Save Changes
Groups Tab
Groups organize users for access control and content targeting.
Viewing Groups
The Groups tab shows all groups with their member counts (e.g., "Managers (5 members)"). Click Refresh to reload the list.
Creating a Group
- Click + Add Group
- In the Create New Group modal:
- Group Name — required
- Description — optional
- Click Create Group
Extensions Tab
Extensions are add-on features that can be enabled or disabled per group. The Extensions tab shows each extension with:
- Extension ID and status
- Enable/disable toggle per group
- Access configuration modal for fine-grained group permissions
To configure access for an extension, click its Edit button and toggle access on or off for each group in your tenant.
Dashboard Layout Tab
The Dashboard Layout tab lets you customize how tiles appear on the Home screen for all users in your tenant. You can rearrange, resize, add, and remove cards, and organize them into collapsible folders.
Desktop and Mobile Layouts
The editor has two views: Desktop and Mobile. Each has its own grid layout — Desktop uses a 24-column grid, Mobile uses a 6-column grid. Switch between them with the toggle at the top. Changes to one layout do not affect the other, so you can optimize each for its screen size.
Editing the Layout
- Drag cards to rearrange their position on the grid
- Resize cards by dragging the handle in the bottom-right corner
- + Add Card — adds a new tile to the layout. Pick from available apps.
- + Add Folder — creates a collapsible group (like "Settings and Analytics" or "ML Work") that other cards nest inside
Saving and Resetting
- Save Layout — saves the current arrangement for all users in the tenant
- Reset to Default — reverts to the system default layout
The footer shows a summary: total cards, folder count, layout type (Custom or Default), and who last edited it.
Permissions Tab
The Permissions tab controls which groups can see which apps on the Home dashboard. Each app appears as a row, and each group appears as a column. Toggle permissions on or off per app/group combination.
Use this when you want certain teams to see specific tiles — for example, making the ML Training tile visible only to the data science group, or hiding the Admin Chat from non-admin groups.
Settings (Super Admins Only)
Super admin only. These controls are only available to super administrators, not regular tenant admins.
Super admins have additional controls for managing how users are routed to tenants during sign-in:
Identity Provider Mappings
Map OIDC identity providers (e.g., Azure AD, Okta) to specific tenants.
- Click + Add Provider Mapping
- Select the provider and the target tenant
- Click Save Mappings
When a user signs in through a mapped provider, they are automatically routed to the correct tenant.
Email Domain Mappings
Map email domains (e.g., @beci.com) to specific tenants.
- Click + Add Email Domain
- Enter the email domain and select the target tenant
- Click Save Mappings
Group to Tenant Mappings
Map Azure AD groups to specific tenants. When a user belongs to a mapped AD group, they are automatically associated with the correct tenant.
- Click + Add Group Mapping
- Enter the AD group name and select the target tenant
- Click Save Mappings
Use Reset to discard unsaved changes, or Save Mappings to persist all changes at once.
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Administration tile
Solutions:
- You need tenant admin or super admin permissions. Contact your administrator.
- The tile is in the Settings and Analytics section on the Home screen — scroll down past the main tiles.
A user signed in but doesn't appear in the Approved list
Solutions:
- Check the Google Users Pending Approval section — they may need manual approval first
- If using SSO (Microsoft/Google), make sure the user's identity provider or email domain is mapped in Settings
Dashboard layout changes don't appear for users
Solutions:
- Make sure you clicked Save Layout — dragging cards alone doesn't persist
- Users may need to refresh their browser to see the updated layout
