The Good News Admin dashboard lets administrators manage the employee recognition system for BECI. You can sync users from Microsoft Graph, assign group owners, randomize group memberships, moderate posts, manage the photo gallery, and configure comment settings.
Good News admin access required. You need the good_news_admin permission and must be in the BECI tenant. If you don't have access, you'll be redirected to the regular Good News feed.
Accessing Good News Admin
- From the Good News feed, click the Admin button
- The dashboard shows stats cards at the top and five tabs below
Dashboard Statistics
Four summary cards at the top:
| Card | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Total Users | All synced BECI directory users |
| Participants (green) | Users actively participating in Good News |
| Group Owners (blue) | Users assigned as group leaders |
| Total Posts (purple) | All posts across all time |
Users & Participants Tab
Manage who participates in Good News. The table shows all synced BECI users.
Filtering Users
- Search — by name, email, office, or department
- Role Filter — All Roles, Participants, Owners, Unassigned
- Office Filter — filter by office location
- Department Filter — filter by department
- Group Filter — filter by owner's group
User Table
Columns: Checkbox, Active toggle, Name, Title, Email, Office, Department, Status (shows "Owner" and/or "Participant" badges). Click column headers to sort.
Bulk Actions
Select multiple users with checkboxes, then use the bulk action bar:
- Add to Participants — makes selected users active participants
- Remove from Participants — deactivates selected users
- Clear selection — deselects all
You can also toggle individual users with the Active switch on each row.
Groups Tab
This is where you assign group owners and randomize group membership.
Step 1: Assign Group Owners
- Click Edit Owners
- A panel expands showing all participants with checkboxes
- Search by name, email, or office
- Check the users you want as group owners
- Click Save Owners
Selected owners appear as blue pill badges.
Step 2: Randomize Group Assignments
Group randomization randomly distributes all participants across the group owners. Each participant belongs to exactly one group.
- Set the cycle limit:
- No restriction — fully random each time
- 1–5 cycles — prevents a participant from being assigned to the same owner for N consecutive cycles
- Click Randomize
- The page shows when groups were last randomized
Viewing and Editing Groups
After randomization, groups appear as cards in a 2-column grid. Each card shows:
- Owner name (green) with member count
- Member list — each member shows name, office, and posting status (checkmark = posted, circle = not yet posted)
- Posted count — "X of Y posted" header
Click Edit Groups to enter edit mode where you can:
- Remove members with the X button
- Drag and drop members between groups
- Click Save Changes when done
Post Moderation Tab
Review and manage all Good News posts.
- Filter by date range (start and end date)
- View posts grouped by group owner with post counts
- Click Details to see full post content, images, and comments
- Click Delete to remove a post (with confirmation: "This action cannot be undone")
Settings Tab
Toggle Enable comments on posts on or off. When enabled, users can comment on each other's Good News posts. The setting saves immediately.
Photo Gallery Tab
Browse all images posted across Good News. Filter by:
- Author — dropdown to filter by user
- Date range — start and end dates
Each image shows the author, post date, and thumbnail. Click to preview or download.
User Sync from Microsoft Graph
Good News pulls user data from the BECI Microsoft directory. The sync imports:
- Display name, office location, job title, department
- Account enabled/disabled status
To trigger a sync, go to Administration and use the directory sync feature. After syncing, new users appear in the Good News Admin user table.
What Users See
On the regular Good News feed, users see:
- Their group owner name in the subtitle
- A Share Good News button to create a post (with text + images)
- Posts grouped by owner with expand/collapse controls
- Reactions on posts (Like, Love, Celebrate)
- Comments section (if enabled by admin)
- Members list dropdown showing who has/hasn't posted
Troubleshooting
No directory users found
Solutions:
- Run a user sync from Administration first
- The sync pulls from Microsoft Graph — make sure your Azure AD is configured
Randomize button is disabled
Solutions:
- You need at least one group owner selected before randomizing
- Go to the Groups tab and assign owners first
